About Laura S. Garrett, RD, LD, Fitness Trainer
Laura began developing an interest in nutrition when she was about 12 years old. Her interest began young and has grown and matured ever since.
Laura's college achievements include a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas Southwestern Allied Health Sciences School.
At UT Southwestern, Laura obtained the training necessary (classroom experience and internship program) to become a registered dietitian. After graduation, Laura took the examination for registration administered by the Commission on Dietetics Registration and became a recognized authority on nutrition. Laura obtained her personal training certification at The Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. Laura is a member of the American Dietetic Association.
Sports have been a part of Laura's life since a very young age, and since the age of 14 Laura has been a runner. In 1997, Laura ran her first marathon and has future hopes to run other marathons once her three young children are older.
